Unraveling the BMW Motorrad ‘Storied’ Series: Exploring Christopher Myott’s Artistry

Christopher Myott is an artist who has turned his passion for art into a career. He lives in a Civil War-era house in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, a small mill town where he grew up. Myott has always been drawn to the idea of being a painter, working in his studio every day and making a living from his art.

His love for old things is evident in both his home and his artwork. He enjoys the stories that old, worn-out objects have to tell and uses unique techniques to give his paintings an aged quality. Myott’s paintings are layered and textured, inviting viewers to not only look at them but also touch them.

One of the things that sets Myott apart as an artist is his ability to take mundane objects and make them fascinating. While some artists might paint a bonsai tree, Myott will paint it planted in an empty chainsaw oil can with a vice grip next to it. He finds joy in demystifying the concept of fine art and hearing how people interpret his paintings differently.

Motorcycles are a recurring theme in Myott’s work, and even those can’t escape his enigmatic approach. He finds inspiration in the old metal, old paint, and mechanisms of motorcycles, particularly BMW boxer engines. Myott appreciates how each individual element comes together to make the whole, even if some parts are a bit off. He believes it’s these imperfections that give the bike character.

Myott’s first BMW motorcycle, an R 27, has a special place in his heart. He acquired it after helping clean out a bicycle repair shop and fixing up the old bike that was stored in the basement. Although he initially offered to give it back as a gesture of gratitude, the owner was so pleased with Myott’s work that he offered him more BMW motorcycles instead.

While Myott no longer owns the R 27, he still remembers it fondly. He even got a tattoo of its key on his neck, symbolizing his identity as an artist and his dedication to pursuing his passion. Myott believes that having the tattoo on his neck serves as a reminder that he is committed to being an artist and won’t settle for a job he doesn’t enjoy.

Through his unique approach to art and his love for old things, Christopher Myott continues to create whimsical and captivating paintings. His work is a testament to his passion for storytelling and his ability to find beauty in the ordinary.
